Frequently Asked Questions

What experience do I need to go paddleboarding, canoeing, or kayaking? Norfolk Paddle Adventure caters to all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced paddlers. Taster sessions are available for those new to paddle sports, and coaching/trips can be tailored to individual needs and preferences.

What equipment is provided? All necessary equipment is provided including a range of paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, paddles, wetsuits, and buoyancy aids. A range of paddleboards is available so customers can try different models.

What should I wear? It’s advisable to wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet, and swimwear underneath. Wetsuits are provided if needed, but you may wish to bring your own if you have one.

Can my friend with a board come along? Yes. Paddleboarding has developed into a social sport. If you’d like to have a go while your friend paddles too, we can arrange that.

What facilities are available? We provide hot refreshments such as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, along with biscuits. There is also a portable toilet and a hot shower for your comfort.

Where do you operate from? We operate from a variety of locations across Norfolk and East Anglia, including quiet rivers, The Broads, lakes, and the coast. The exact location will depend on the trip and will be discussed beforehand.

Is there an age limit? We welcome families of all sizes and abilities, and children’s boards are available for families to try.

What about safety? Safety is a top priority at Norfolk Paddle Adventure. All activities are led by a British Canoeing qualified coach who is also first aid trained and safeguarding checked. A safety briefing will be given before you get on the water, and all sessions are run in accordance with British Canoeing guidelines.

Can I try before I buy? Yes, there is an opportunity to try different makes and models of paddleboards before you buy your own. This allows you to see what works best for you and your needs.

Can I gain any qualifications? Norfolk Paddle Adventure is a Paddle UK provider and can guide you through Personal Performance awards, including the SUP Sheltered Water Award.

What is included in the price? The price includes all equipment, expert guidance, hot refreshments, and the use of comfort facilities. Photos and videos of your trip may also be taken.

How do I book? You can book your adventure via the contact page. We will then contact you to discuss your needs and confirm your booking.

What if the weather is bad? If the weather conditions are deemed unsuitable for paddling, your trip may be postponed. The aim is to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience, and the business will communicate any changes with you.

What if I have my own board? If you have your own board but need advice on new places to go, the business can help. There is also a reduced price for guided trips if you have your own kit.

What if I want a personalised experience? We are focused on providing flexible and personalised experiences tailored to your needs, beginning with a pre-session conversation to understand your goals. We can adapt to your needs and preferences, offering a range of locations, activities and equipment.
