One of my Canoes that live on a rack in the garden has a Robins nest in the Stern. While Im going to have to work on preventative measures for next year, or later this year, like putting up some more nest boxes! But it looks like the Robins reputation of nesting anywhere and everywhere is well deserved! Im going to enjoy keeping a discreet eye on the parents and see if they manage to fledge any youngsters.
In the meantime, I’ve got alternative boats I can use. So service as usual!
The lighter evenings are making for afterwork paddling opportunities, so if you fancy a gentle trip down the river to end a tough day at work, get in touch.
Having deserted the nest, it was taken over by Blue Tits. They then deserted the nest leaving two eggs inside, one of which had a hole in it.
The Robins have moved back to the original canoe they made a nest in! (next year, I’m going to make sure they’ve got nest boxes near the canoes and I leave my airbags inside the canoes)
As of today, June 25 they appear to be feeding youngsters, hoping for some youngsters!
